Kona Joe Coffee is Legendary; Here's Why
Lots and lots of pure rain water!
Both coffee trees and Kona Joe love lots of water. The mountains cool the moisture in the sea air to create afternoon cloud shade. This shade protects the delicate coffee cherries from the hot tropical sun. Fortunately for us, Kona has sunshine each morning with shade and gentle sprinkles each afternoon.
In the afternoon and early evenings rain comes from the mountains to irrigate the trees with pristine water. The afternoon showers also bring natural shade, cooling the coffee trees. Shade grown coffee preserves flavor and reduces acidity.
This exact combination of morning sunshine and afternoon showers is only found on a narrow stretch of the Big Island of Hawaii known as the Kona Coffee Belt. On the Big Island of Hawaii rain erosion breaks down lava creating rich volcanic soil. Here the elements combine to grow the richest Arabica beans in the world.
Kona Joe is hand-picked at its peak and then water-processed before being dried in the warm Hawaiian sun. We slow-roast only the best beans of the harvest and pack them in gas valved stand up pouches. This allows us to lock in all of their legendary flavor immediately after roasting.
Kona Joe coffee has a rich, sweet taste with exotic flavors captured from the unique Kona climate and soil. Like most of life's finer pleasures, it cost a little more than other types of coffee, but this handcrafted coffee is well worth the extra cost.
From the legacy of Hawaii's volcanic past, and the presence of near perfect weather, we are able to bring you the World's best coffee beans. Kona Joe coffee is definitely a legend in the making!
